IN OUR OFFICE WE GIVE A VERY PERSONLIZED AND FOCUSSED CARE, TO OUR PATIENTS. A SPECIAL EFFORT IS MADE, TO ATTEND, TO ONLY ONE PATIENT AT TIME.
WITH DENTAL EMERGENCIES BEING THE ONLY EXCEPTION, MOST OF THE TIME, THERE WILL BE NO WAITING FOR OUR PATIENTS, WHEN THEY COME FOR THEIR DENTAL VISITS.
In order to understand fully the complexity of the Dental problems and Dental needs of our patients :
We must know and understand our patients to the best possible detail, on their, very first appointment in our office. We expect all our patients to be very candid and open when answering our questionnaires.
Dental emergencies:
Our first time patients: When coming first time to our office and on an emergency visit, at this visit, we primarily focus on the dental emergency. Once this is taken care of, we always like to bring our patients back, for a full consultation and examination.
Comprehensive Consultation and Examination:
A comprehensive consultation and Dental examination in our office, usually takes 60-90 minutes, depending upon the complexity of the Dental and Medical Problems a patient has.
Since Teeth and related oral structures are an integral part of full body function, and body, works, in unison, with the entire body as one group, it is important to understand and know everything we can, about our patients, specially their medical problems, dental problems, social and personal needs etc.
It is very helpful if our all new patients can provide the following on their first visit:
- A copy of the dental records, from their previous Dentist, if easily available.
- A copy of the all dental radiographs, taken in the past from previous dentists.
If all the records are not available, or not accessible, we would like our patients to get a copy of the most recent Radiographic examination, from the previous dental office if possible.
In the event any of the above is not available, we can still fully evaluate your dental needs, based on the information you provide and our clinical interview, examination and radiographs.
Comprehensive Examination in Our Office:
It is comprised of the following:
A Patient Interview.
B Data/Patient information collections.
C Hard Tissue Examination:
Visual
Palpation
Radiographic
D Soft tissue Examination:
Visual
Photographic
Special Radiographic {MRI} etc. in very rare cases.
1. To facilitate a good start and save time we strongly recommend all our new patients to visit the section named "Forms" icon on the left hand column of ICONS.
2. In the forms list , we like you to fill all the three forms i.e.
a. Getting to know you.
b. Health History.
All these three forms can be filled on line and submitted to our office on line. Just by doing so you get a head start and save at least 30-45 minutes of your office visit time.
3. Brief Interview: Once you arrive our office, your will be very briefly interviewed by our receptionist who also checks you.
If you have already did your home work i.e. fill the forms mentioned above on line and submitted these to our office, you will be quickly seated in a dental Operatory/Examination room, where you will be briefly interviewed and greeted by our Staff Dentist. IN this quick interview Doctors decides what more information is needed and he orders the assistants to collect the same from our patients. This information and Data collection will include any or all the following depending upon Doctor's judgment:
|
Intra-Oral Radiographs:
This involves a series of radiographs taken digitally using the latest in Dental X-ray Technology and minimal possible exposure to radiation.
|
 |
|
| |
|
Intra Oral /Extra Oral Photographs:
We use a state of the art intraoral camera which is integrated into our patient's digital dental records and files. These pictures are very helpful in making preoperative records and at the same time are very diagnostic. These can be enlarged and printed, if needed and each and every tooth picture or soft tissue area of the mouth can be magnified and studied very clearly. These pictures are also very helpful in future comparative evaluations.
|
 |
|
| |
| Extra Oral Radiographs: |
| |
| In addition to routine Intra-Oral Radiographs and photographs at times some special Radiographic evaluations are needed. These are done at facilities outside of our office, which are in no way associated with our office. These are independent facilities and they do their own billing and have their own fees, which are the responsibility of our patients, who need these extra services. |
| |
|
Panographic Radiograph:
These are large Panographic views of the patient's Facial bony structures, Upper and Lower Jaws primarily, T.M.J.s, Maxillary sinuses etc. and are very helpful in evaluating the Impacted Wisdom teeth, get some idea about edentulous bone heights for Dental Implant placement etc. and evaluate any boney defects or pathologies.
|
 |
|
| |
| Soft Tissue Exam and Evaluation: |
| |
| This includes a visual examination of the face, intraoral mucosa, gums, tongue, hard and soft palate. We look for any inflamed areas, any sign of Oral Cancer. A detailed full comprehensive periodontal Examination including Periodontal Pocket charting when indicated, record of bleeding areas of gums and gum pockets, tooth mobility and its grades, Calculus and dental plaque indices are noted when indicated. |
|
Diagnostic Study Models:
Upper and lower jaw impressions of the patient's Jaws will be taken to fabricate duplicates models of patient's teeth. This is very helpful in getting a three dimensional record of patients teeth for future reference and also helps in study of patient's teeth when patient is not in the office.
|
 |
|
| |
| Articulated Study Models: |
| |
| Many times there is a need to have a articulated record of patient's teeth. This is, very helpful in analyzing patient's biting pattern, occlusion, Occlusal irregularities or pre-maturities, It is also very beneficial to design patient's new Occlusal table, in Extreme Makeover Cases and Smile by Design. |
| |
|
Smile By Design:
In Extreme make overs, or cases where Patient's looks are important and need to be changed to patient's liking, there is an extra step we do. It is called Smile by Design. In this we design in physical form that our Patient can touch and see the outcome of the smile makeover even before patient's teeth are actually touched by a dental drill. In doing so, there are no unknowns in future. Patients gets to approve or disapprove their, new looks or we can alter the looks on these models, till such time that patient's desired outcome is achieved, on these models. This helps in eliminating the unknown factors and results in the treatment outcome.

Radiographic Guide:
In situations where Dental implants are to be placed in critical areas like alveolar rides under maxillary sinuses ( tooth numbers 2,3,4,5 on the right upper jaw and tooth numbers 12,13,14,15,on the left upper jaw), it is very beneficial to know the thickness of maxillary sinus floor and if there will be a need, for bone augmentation. Similarly in the lower jaw it is important know the location of Mandibular nerve under the teeth numbers 18,19,20, 21, 28,29,30 and 31.

 |
|
| |
|
3D Cone Beam CT Scans:
This is a very specialized radiographic examination in which very advanced computer programs are used to give a 3D image of patient's facial / head bones. This volumetric image is very helpful in evaluating bone volumes of any area of face and jaws, thus helping us ideally place, the dental implants. It also guides us to determine, the need for bone augmentation in any area where there is not enough bone for dental implant placement. Using these CT scans we determine the location of any blood vessels and nerves etc. In doing so lot of damage and accidents to these important structures can be eliminated. It is a very important tool, in planning implant placement in space i.e. doing virtual surgery . In this process we place Implants in the CT scan and determine the exact location of the Implants and avoid damaging important nerves and blood vessels.
|
 |
|
| |
|
Surgical Stents:
Once the implants are placed and checked in the CT Scans, a surgical guide or stent can be fabricated using advanced computer programs. Using these surgical stents, Dental Implants can be precisely placed, where they are intended to,without damaging the important nerves and blood vessels.
|
 |
|
| |
|
Occlusal Guides/Guards:
In some instances, Occlusal guides, guards etc. may have to be fabricated to correct habitual biting patterns before extensive Occlusal Rehabilitation procedures are undertaken for a patient.
|
 |
|
| |
| Scope and Extent of outcome of our comprehensive examination: |
| |
Even with all the knowledge and information that we can gather, with best possible help from our patients, at times critical information and clues that can help us pin point the cause and reasons for any current problems a patient is having will be missing and may take more than one visit or effort to find the actual cause.
At times outside consultations may be needed from other professional specialists. These specialists charge their own fees many times independent of independent of our office.
These fees if not covered by patient's insurance will be paid by the patient to these doctors.
Many times some of the procedures may be beyond the scope of our office or doctors. At such times the patients may referred out to other specialists, who again will charge their fees directly to our patients. |
